We are a full-service architectural and engineering firm with extensive experience in building system evaluation, including evaluation of building deck systems for compliance to California Civil Code 5551.

A & E Architects has a long history performing deck inspections for our HOA clients.  Our firm provides forensic assessment of building structures including assessment of weather/waterproofing systems of deck structures and adjoining integrations of other systems.  Where litigation is initiated, our experience and knowledge of comprehensive deck systems and waterproofing have resulted in multimillion-dollar settlements for clients. 

Scope of services offered by our firm include 1) initial forensic assessment of deck systems for compliance to California Civil Code 5551, and in the event damage is encountered 2) preparation of architectural/engineering repair plans,  3) permitting through required jurisdictional agencies, and where requested,  4) complete contract administration services, including preparation of RFP packages and contractor bidding/negotiation.

Deck assessment work must be comprehensive, performed by experienced professionals, and conducted on a recurrent interval allowing for damage to be identified early, while repair costs are still manageable.  Our experience in comprehensive deck system inspection, including identification of early warning signs of deck water intrusion,  helps our clients with their deck maintenance requirements and budgeting for  repair.
